Our Commitment

Women of the Summit exists to connect and champion women in Summit County, Colorado. Everything we do — our events, programs, committees, and online spaces — is built on the belief that every woman deserves to show up, be seen, and be supported.

This Code of Conduct reflects that commitment. It applies to all members, volunteers, board members, staff, event attendees, sponsors, and anyone who participates in our community, whether in person or online.

 

Our Values

1. Inclusion — We welcome women of all backgrounds, experiences, and identities. Diversity makes our community stronger.

2. Respect — We treat every person with dignity. Disagreements happen; disrespect doesn't have to.

3. Integrity — We act honestly and transparently, in alignment with our mission and our community's trust.

4. Empowerment — We lift each other up. We share opportunities, celebrate successes, and offer support without judgment.

5. Accountability — We hold ourselves and one another to the standards we've set together.

 

Expected Behavior

All participants in Women of the Summit spaces and activities are expected to:

• Communicate with kindness and respect, even in disagreement

• Honor the confidentiality of personal stories and sensitive conversations shared within our community

• Give credit where it's due and support others' contributions

• Be mindful of how much space you take up — in meetings, in conversations, and in decision-making

• Report concerns or conflicts through appropriate channels rather than publicly or on social media

• Represent Women of the Summit honestly and positively when speaking or acting in our name

 

Unacceptable Behavior

The following will not be tolerated in any Women of the Summit space or activity:

• Harassment, bullying, or intimidation of any kind

• Discrimination based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, age, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, immigration status, or any other characteristic

• Verbal, written, or physical conduct that creates a hostile or unwelcoming environment

• Sharing someone's personal information without their consent

• Misuse of a leadership role or position for personal gain

• Conduct that conflicts with Women of the Summit's 501(c)(3) charitable mission or that could jeopardize the organization's good standing

• Retaliation against anyone who in good faith raises a concern

 

Reporting a Concern

If you experience or witness behavior that violates this Code of Conduct, we encourage you to speak up. Reports can be made to any Officer or Board member, or submitted in writing by contacting us at admin@womenofthesummit.org.

All reports will be handled confidentially and taken seriously. You will not face retaliation for making a good-faith report.

 

Enforcement

Women of the Summit leadership will review reported concerns and determine appropriate action, which may include a private conversation, a formal warning, removal from an event or committee, suspension of membership, or removal from the organization. The response will be proportionate to the situation.

Decisions are made in accordance with our Bylaws and with the best interest of our community and mission in mind.

 

A Note on Leadership

Board members, officers, volunteers, and anyone acting in a leadership capacity are held to these standards — and then some. Those who represent Women of the Summit carry our mission and our community's trust with them. We expect leadership to model the values above at all times.

 

This Code of Conduct was adopted by the Women of the Summit Board of Directors and may be updated from time to time. Questions or feedback can be directed to any Board Officer.
